Too much to do, so little time

crumblingwalls. I needed an Eowyn icon after RoTK. I found an interesting New Yorker article The Two Rings combining two current interests with Wagner and Tolkien. I also found a copy of Tolkien and the Great War, about the influence of the First World War on the creation of Middle Earth. A shorter article on the same subject had appeared online and had been fascinating reading. The book seems to focus more on the biographical details on Tolkien's wartime life and writings, rather than making explicit analogies to LoTR. He seemed to be at odds with the other wartime poets.
Last week Dad had inquired if I could pick him up a used book from a local Arlington store. I was a little surprised because the store was not where I knew a bookstore existed. So I went off in search, finding it around the corner from a local supermarket. The bookstore is a two floor house with mostly history and literary crit and biographies, expressly carrying no fiction. I wandered upstairs and promptly found something for a friend. I still can't believe that piece of luck. Jen and husband gave me a ride to Falls Church so I could pick up my embarrasingly large pile of comics.
Now I'm in last minute shopping and planning mode, mostly for myself. Why do I always find that I need that one thing right before a trip?
