Had a great time going around Old Town Alexandria with whytcrow, ariadnesthread, ladyofchulak, and darthblitzkrieg. Nearly had a panic attack when my Smartrip card and apartment key turned up missing from my sweater pocket. Fortunately it had just fallen out in the car, rather than back at the Metro station. The first store had the most eclectic collection of oddities I've ever seen from Republican swag to Egyptian papyrus. I mostly peered at the jewelry I don't wear. My only failing strangely is for purple onyx but I didn't see any in the shops we visited, so I was safe. Probably a good thing. Window or display gawking is so much cheaper than actual buying. We wound up at Chadwicks for dinner, which was fine, until the Saturday party crowd turned up the stereo way too loud. The ice cream disagreed with me again, although I successfully dodged the chocolate stains of doom. The secret is to take off the white sweater beforehand.

Must remind myself to buy the paperback of kijjohnson's "Fudoki" which I spied in the Borders on the way home. At least that is a book I've already read, rather than the depressing TBR piles. Apologies to wintersweet if she received my files twice. Gmail takes awhile to send large files, so I wasn't sure if it took.
