I'm all in
Nov. 28th, 2004 01:06 amLovely evening at a poker party held by a CVS member at her place. I discovered to my amusement that I've obviously absorbed some knowledge of playing Texas Hold 'Em from watching all those World Series of Poker events. It was very sad because I could hear Norman Chad making pithy comments in my ear about calling at certain times. Or realizing
whytcrow's eager son reminded me a little too much of Sam Farha, a World Series player who never met a flop he didn't like. I started off slow to the point I thought I'd be the first one out, then I split a pot. And then started winning every other hand. I went "all in" twice and survived to tell the tale. Once I flopped a straight draw and
darthblitzkrieg picked the wrong time to push me. The two pair failed me at the end, alas, but it was a fun run while it lasted. I was amused because the satellite fm radio picked up the version of "Walk on the Wild Side" Todd Eldredge used for his short program... ironically it's from the "Casino" soundtrack!
