Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone! 2004 is gone and good riddance. I hope 2005 brings luck and prosperity and good health. After getting my hair shorn back to shoulder length, I spent this New Year's Eve at whytcrow and boffo9's house for board games and nattering. We played the diabolical game of "Killer Bunnies" that lives up to its warning label as being truly evil and addictive. The first game I had zero luck. If I needed a 3 or better to defend myself, I'd roll a 1. If I acquired a bunny, someone would send it off in the next instant. In the second game, I was a wealthy woman and took no prisoners. Needless to say I preferred that ending. Then we tried playing the storytelling game "Once Upon a Time". It was late and I was probably more tired than I cared to admit... I was just getting frustrated not being able to get rid of cards at all.

No parades or football

What a radical departure from most New Year's day. Instead I caught up with some of the World Poker Tour marathon from yesterday. Now I'm going to have a new set of commentators muttering in my head when I play poker. And I'll probably be thinking of certain hands by their nicknames. Ace-King is "Big Slick". Jack-Five is the "Jackson Five". Pair of kings are alternately two cowboys or "Alan and Larry". I'll catch up with my customary groceries and errands tomorrow before the last Redskins game.

I didn't however take a day off from the exercising. I dutifully did my half hour on the bike. I really don't like the seat on that thing. I think you can adjust it, but I'm not sure if it will help. I also wish they had straps to hold your feet into the pedals, because I'm always slipping off, just when I'm getting a rhythm going. I briefly looked at some of the other machines, but I fled the elliptical after only a few minutes. That's a good way to kill your knees.
