Interesting article in today's Express on a blog that is dedicated to the misuse of Kanji and Hanzi in Western culture. The creator kept noticing how many tattoos or t-shirts meant gibberish or worse. Even the police are sometimes baffled. There was a story about FBI experts scratching their heads over the characters used by Asian American gangs, taken apparently from tuna cans. I'm reminded of the story of some knitter liking some characters in a Chinese restaurant and creating a shawl as a gift. And then discovering it was something like "Cheap eats at Joe Wongs". Usually they do have the PDF of the current edition up on their website, if you want to read the full article.
