Foyled again
May. 16th, 2005 11:21 pmI tried to catch up with some of my Netflix dvds tonight, watching the first dvd of the second season of "Foyle's War". I had watched the episode "Fifty Ships" before on PBS. I had heard on the mailing list that PBS had cut some scenes from the original, including a rather crucial bit. I even discovered there's a LJ community
foyleswar. Granted the scene cut wasn't from the main murder plot, but still it was rather frustrating. It makes me want to see the other uncut versions for comparison's sake. The production notes on the dvd were quite fun. It isn't quite as easy as you'd think to remove the modern bits from scenes. They mentioned two stories. In one quaint village filming, an old man refused to move his car, so they had to park a van in front of it, leaving with only two angles to shoot from. And then there were the scenes where Foyle was supposed to come out of his house in Hastings, only to have some passerby wander past to muck up the works.
