Since I'm reading "Lost in a Good Book", I think this is the only appropriate icon.
I screwed up big time yesterday. I was double checking the dates for my regular Media West trip in May for the hotel and I accidentally set the computer calendar to that May date. That screwed up my connection to my server. So I logged out not realizing what I'd done. Then I couldn't login because there was a conflict. And tech support couldn't find me for a day and a half because I'm in a weird corner of the newsroom. Finally he showed up today. The nice computer guy listened and nodded and sat down and logged in with admin privileges. Everything's now hunky dorry. He seemed startled that I actually figured out what the problem was immediately so he didn't have to troubleshoot the thing to death. It was also relatively easy to fix, which probably made his day. On the other hand, that was the first time I've heard computer tech support called a "pleasurable experience".
I finally figured out why the poor Visor wasn't synching properly. I reinstalled Wordsmith and then I needed to make sure some of the files were marked to synch. I was beginning to despair of ever being able to create a file in Wordsmith because I couldn't offload it. It is very useful for reading longer fic on the Metro, although I still have to figure out the formatting quirks. I've managed to search and replace on those awful smart quotes, but the spaces between paragraphs is annoying.
And that all probably sounded like technobabble gibberish, didn't it?
