The other interview

The second interview went reasonably better than the first one, but I worked at LC before, so I know their system. The job will be a temp position with the Copyright division, lasting about a year. My major concern about the workload may be adjusting to a different division's way of doing things. Then there's the timeframe. The job wouldn't start until May 1st. I cannot stay out of work that long and manage my bills... not without hitting up the parental units, which I'd like to avoid. To say I'm frustrated is being kind.
One useful thing I learned though: Jasper Fforde is appearing at LC on April 11th. At some point, I'll have to find his new "Lost in a Good Book". Nutty series, but fun.
I did some research in the Current Periodical Reading Room as well, delving into the online archives of turn of the century newspapers. Think it's hard to find skating coverage in your local newspapers? Try searching for that initial report of Madge Syers' first appearance at Worlds against the guys. A small article came up, simply stating the facts, with the no muss or fuss about the oddity of "Mrs. Edgar Syers" finishing second behind Ulrich Salchow.
