Things I learned about beading...

The needles are damn sharp. Ow.

The eye of the needle is tiny. Thread the needle in plenty of light.

The beads are tiny little buggers who don't want to be threaded.

Finding a needle in a haystack is child's play compared to finding a lost bead.

Is this a pic of something you're working on?? If so, it's gorgeous!! My mother can sew and has tried to teach me before, but I simply can't sit still that long. I have great respect for those that can.

I can do needlework, but I can't sew worth anything. I don't even use a sewing machine particularly well.

The icon is the Jane Seymour's blackwork cuff from her Holbein portrait. That's the Henry VIII wife who "died" if you remember the "Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded survived" rhyme for Henry's wives.

I'm actually working on a design by Mirabilia, the 2001 Guardian Cherub. Usually I don't do angel type patterns, but I loved this one so much. I'll try to post a progress shot later, but the link will show you the finished version.
