The play really is the thing apparently...

*blinks* What a curious last day at my current assignment so far. I came in to discover two piles of giveaway books. The more curious thing was the titles: Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" and Sophocles "Three Theban Plays". I'm not sure I want to know their legal applicability. I picked up copies. After all, one does not turn down free Metro reading material, even if "Oedipus" wouldn't be my first choice. (I'll be humming Tom Lehrer all the way home.)

I do have a soft spot in my heart for "The Crucible" though, being the play of my only high school production. I played one of the Screaming Mimis who cry Witch in the second act courtroom scene. Several people said I made a perfect Puritan. Hmph.

And they're having a mini party for me.

"His rivals used to say quite a bit,
That as a monarch he was most unfit.
But still in all they had to admit
That he *loved* his mother."

I was always fond of Tom Lehrer. And also rock and roll "and other children's songs."

"He loved his mother like no other,
his daughter was his sister,
his son was a brother..."

I remember a group of friends doing a skit for the high school variety show to "the Masochism Tango".
