Going to the River
While I was in Florida, I watched some of the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel. After the fun and games of the celebrity event on Bravo, watching those high level players betting tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars is quite scary. Alas, Comcast does not carry the Travel Channel, so I'm stuck with the ESPN version. I'm watching the episodes from their marathon. Some of these players are trips. And some love to trash talk.
Ford ran an ad asking for stories from WWII "Rosie the Riveters". A National Historical Park for Rosie the Riveter is in Richmond, California.
Happy birthday JRR Tolkien. I'm no closer to reading your mammoth tale than when you celebrated your eleventy-first... I take my time, like the Ents.

Really? I have Comcast and get the Travel Channel. You might want to check their online channel listing for your area, though, because my TC is on channel 99, and almost everything else is channels 2 through 70. I have 96, 98, and 99 for some weird reason.

I'm nearly done re-re-re-reading (yes, I think it's the fourth time) Fellowship of the Ring. I still can't find my Two Towers (I have my Return of the King). I was going to buy the Legolas-covered mass market pb of TTT, but B&N only had that one as part of boxed sets. The loose mmpbs of TTT were all Eowyn-covered. I like Eowyn a lot, but I wanted Legolas, so I resisted the need to buy. Sigh. If I weren't on Fairfax County Public Library's fines hit list, I'd check it out to read. Instead, I have started to read Stephenson's Quicksilver, which had me laughing out loud in Taco Hell last night. I was worried it might be dry, since it's ginormous, but it's just as funny as his other books.
