So "Witch Hunter Robin" debuted on the Cartoon Network. The fandom has been collectively holding its breath to see just how bad the edits were going to be. At least, for the first episode, it wasn't that bad, killing the opening credits and speeding up the end credits. But you'd think it was the end of the world from the diehard reactions. (I'm in distinct minority in that I don't like that opening sequence with Robin fawning over Amon on the tv screen. Gives me a completely different idea about the series for starters.) At least we have the same dub. They might have deleted some dialogue, but it wasn't "Hey, wasn't there a scene there?" type stuff. Nor was it the KoTZ treatment either. I still scratch my head at the "Adult Swim" filler stuff.

Interesting interview with Stuart Levy, CEO of Tokyopop: "The manga man".

I have never seen this series before, so I'm glad to hear that they haven't made any glaring changes to it. I'm anxious for something to replace The Big O and Cowboy Bebop, since I recently finished watching all the available eps in those series.

The series starts off very slow and episodic with the Witch of the Week stuff. Then supposedly at about episode 11, everything changes.

I noticed that last night, but didn't watch it since...

a-- the "witch hunter" concept offends me, as a witch
b-- they fucking replaced Inuyasha again! Dammit!

BTW, Amon? As in, Amun-Ra? Please say no. Please tell me there's no bad Egyptian mythology in this show!!

I think they moved Inuyasha back a half hour. I haven't seen the entire series yet, just the first ten episodes, but so far, no bad Egyptian mythology yet.

They definitely have a confusing (?) idea of Witch vs Hunter. Some of the hunters do have special powers, some don't. The term "witch" doesn't seem to have any of the pagan connotations, yet they refer to witchcraft as the Craft or Witches as Craft Users. I know some of more paranoid diehards are worried about exactly your reaction.
