WENN, Subtext and the care and throttling of a fandom...

There are times when I desperately want to whap a fandom upside the head with a clue-by-four. The irony is that if this was any other fandom I'm around, they'd be arguing the subtext of every glance and every word. They'd be saying "See, see, how he's hovering over her" in the smallest of scenes. (Substitute "him" for "her" unfortunately and you'd describe most of the slash fandoms.) In "Remember WENN" fandom, they have no concept of this... unless it involves Saint Betty of the Purple Prosed Typewriter. A couple like Hilary and Jeffrey defies the normal, therefore they don't understand it. So they assume the obvious. They couldn't actually stay together all these years because they might actually care about each other? After all they rarely say so. And if it didn't say so in the script...

ARGH!

I know.. that irritates the holy hell and fuck out of me. I've been trying to find a nice way to post about this to my LJ.. LOL

I haven't seen email since I logged off last night.. always download the morning group at work, so I can have time to answer if need be, I'm sure there will be more goodies.

I loved suzy_queue's post to the list as well. heehee. Will have my fun posting today. :-)

She lost me totally when she said that the reason they *seem* so still married in season 1 was because the writers suddenly changed their minds to the "not-married" surprise in "World of Tomorrow". Hello? That's Rupert we're talking about, the show's creator. This isn't a large group of freelance writers. Besides, then why the threat of blackmail in "Emperor Smith" if they're still married?

What kills me is that she claims the show itself is so disjointed.. is she watching Remember WENN or WKRP???? Helloo.. LOLOL Her problem is, is that she is not looking for the deeper nuances, she's not getting all the jokes and the show is too cerebral for her.

She should be watching WKRP.. but at this point I think WKRP is too cerebral for her.

After listening to that idiot of a president's speech, I am sooo not in the mood to deal with her on wennlist... though maybe now would be a good time to deal with her. ;-) LOL
