I managed to stay relatively unspoiled for today's Olympics coverage. The gymnastics broke my heart a little, but I had the feeling that it wasn't going to be their night. I found it ironic that the uneven bars was the Romanians' worst event, seeing as that was Nadia's specialty, along with balance beam. The men's relay rocked mightily. Sorry Aussies, this one's ours! And let's give it up for the women's sabre team in fencing for going gold and bronze in the event's debut. I stumbled upon the Bravo coverage and sat enthralled through the semis. I was a little annoyed the primetime cut down the match to only a few points after watching the full matches on Bravo, but that's NBC for you.
I had a fandom collides moment while catching up with the last two weeks of Another World when Elizabeth Gracen popped up as herself discussing the Miss America competition, long before she swung a sword in HL. Odd though that they focused on that pretty girl from the crowd who wanted to go to college and the writers kinda missed the big Miss America connection with the college scholarships. Admittedly this was Miss America circa 1988, but I think they were still awarding scholarships back then, yes?
