Potter fans are in final countdown mode. They stand between the precipice of light and dark, of canon and fanon. Some of them sound really excited and others, mostly fanfic writers and RPG moderators, sound scared. Now admittedly some of these people are very loose canon followers. In other words, use what works for them and leave the rest alone. Most of these are Slytherin adherents. They haven't even read the book yet, but they just know Rowling isn't about to show the "bad guys" in even a sympathetic light. They're mostly nice people, but very hard to interact with when their worldview is so skewed from mine.

I'm beginning to understand the fanfic writer at MediaWest who said she didn't write fanfic for currently running tv series. I can understand the logic. I have a whole floppy or two filled with Buffyfic, mostly from the second season before all hell broke loose. I couldn't keep up with the series fanficwise. I'm not sure I could go back and write that stuff knowing what I know now though. I'm not sure I would have thought of half those bunnies waiting around seven years. Isn't figuring out the end half the fun?

Speaking of the books, yours might be being unboxed right now on Yahoo News in their stirring pictures of the Amazon workers opening the HP5 boxes. Mine is probably winding its way towards the Ballston mall or already there in the back room.

The apartment is changing the AC filters Wednesday. I hope that improves the situation finally because the dregs of summer are coming. And the cable company installs the new digital recorder. Not quite Jenn's TiVo, but could be an interesting alternative.

And Google has gone Escher.
