How does Bama follow up beating Spurrier? They utterly embarrassed the Gators. It's so nice to have my alma mater winning again.
My NOLA friends returned to their home. They were really really lucky with only some minor damage. Their huge library is intact.
I saw "Serenity" last night after work. The crowd was fairly small. I was very nervous when a family of four, with two fairly young and fidgety children, sat behind me during the movie. But they settled down, so it wasn't a total disaster. I had attended a screening back in June in Norfolk, so it was interesting to compare what I saw with the final cut, mostly the addition of music score. Varese Sarabande is releasing both Serenity and Firefly soundtracks, so we get Big Damn Music finally! (The track listings on the "Serenity" soundtrack is really spoilery btw!)
I think I finally figured out why the movie felt so intense for me. This isn't the pretty Star Trek future with the phasers and martial arts. This is a knuckle breaking barroom brawl type of future. You heard every sickening crunch, every blow landed, every rivet coming apart. As a consequence, the violence felt a lot more "real" for me. Even though I'd seen it already, I still felt enough of the rollercoaster at the end, wondering who was going to survive that last battle.
Losing Wash and Book still hurt like hell. I wonder if we saw some of the answer on Book's past by meeting the Operative. Zoe was such an Amazon during the fight. I ached for Zoe at the end. "She's tore up plenty but she'll fly true. And the dinosaurs, such a nice little touch.
