I had forgotten what an utter pill breaking in new orthotics was. I'm so used to leaving them in all the time that this "wear for 1-2 hours, wait for your feet to go OW! and then switch out of them" is just maddening. That's the point of the orthotics, so I don't have to think about my feet. Fortunately I'm off my feet for most of the day, so I can use the orthotics for the commute when I am most likely to be stuck on my feet for long periods of time.

I've moved to a new desk again away from the maddening rush of the newsroom to the quiet and serenity of the library. If you ignore the whirring fans of the server thingy behind me, actually it is relatively quiet. I don't have as many distractions around me, which is a good thing mostly. But there's no windows or signs of daylight or life... and to a degree I miss the newsroom hububub. How am I supposed to keep up with the news?

Google had an apt quote for today:

A desk is a dangerous place from which to watch the world.
- John le Carre
