Apparently the National Review has posted their top 50 "conservative rock songs", reprinted on the New York Times site, topped by "Won't Get Fooled Again". Ironically, I actually like most of the music listed. I'm not sure what that says about me.
They're really reaching for quite a few of those. John Cougar Mellencamp? So not a neoconservative. I also don't get how they're getting the anti-choice vibe from some of those songs. Some of them have little to do with abortion and even a song where a guy is depressed that his girlfriend is getting an abortion doesn't necessarily translate to "this should be illegal and equivalent to murder". Similarly, acknowledging that children dislike divorce doesn't necessarily equate to "divorce shouldn't be legal"--it's possible to acknowledge that some situations are naturally painful and that everyone's feelings are real without necessarily saying the same solution is right for everyone and should be legally mandated.
