Day 2 of MediaWest started relatively early with breakfast and a SGA het panel. I was pleased that it didn't prompt any large arguments, just general discussions on the options and sometimes lack thereof. Most of the female characters are left in positions of power where they couldn't simply be with whoever they liked. The moderator brought her flip chart of visual aids, claiming she was a frustrated teacher and she would have liked to have a Powerpoint presentation.

I bought a few more stills and a Witch Hunter Robin t-shirt I hadn't seen before. I'm still eying some other pretty t-shirts because they won't make those designs next year. We shall see how I'm feeling tomorrow. Another dealer has a large array of mugs and notebooks and etc, so I was able to acquire a Sheppard notebook. The dealer I'd bought the cross-stitch charts was selling of her kits, including a TW mini. I took great delight in showing her my "Scary Book" progress.

After the hysterical panel on Captain Jack Harkness, I had a delightful dinner at Appleby's with [livejournal.com profile] neadods, [livejournal.com profile] jennetj, [livejournal.com profile] zinelady, [livejournal.com profile] isamom and [livejournal.com profile] signeh. Dinner was topped off by a heavenly dessert called the triple chocolate meltdown. Then came the Doctor Who party hosted right next to my hotel room. We watched the "School Reunion" episode which I adored. ASH did evil so terribly well. I'm beginning to think I need a Sarah Jane icon. [livejournal.com profile] maureen_the_mad turned [livejournal.com profile] neadods' button idea into reality when she turned my "Into Every Generation comes a Buffy & Giles" icon into a button. When someone asked me how the fandom was doing, I nearly asked "Which one?" Doctor Who seems alive and growing every day, whereas I'd have to dig to find Buffy stuff.

Two things I didn't mention was the weather and the indoor temperatures. We had some massive rain yesterday punctuated by odd bursts of sunshine. Then it became warm and muggy. Inside it rather depended on where you were. Some parts of the hotel are boiling and others were freezing. The room has been cool but humid as hell. I'm almost afraid to get home now and see how my apartment has been adjusting to change. I went back upstairs before my morning panel, because it was complete icebox where they were having that panel.

One of the things am most disappointed about not getting to come this year is becuase finally I am into fandoms that more than 3 people are into. I would have loved the WHo panels. I'm actually interested in SG1 (Thanks to Ben and Claudia for no other reason) and SGa.. thanks to [livejournal.com profile] suzy_queue who is brilliant at pawning fandoms off onto other people. LOL I do think it funny.. that last year.. she was only into Pop slash and WENN... now look at her. LOL Only one media West and we've turned her to the dark side. LOL

*snickers* This year she's even talking about *gasp* buying zines. She kept finding SG1 ones she was interested in. We're such a terrible influence on her, aren't we? The Who panels have been great fun and not too divisive with the New versus Classic. We're seeing all kinds in the panels. People like me and [livejournal.com profile] neadods who are returning to the fold in some way or another and others like you who are completely unfamiliar with the verse. It's actually quite fascinating from the fanthro level.

You would unfortunately be a little frustrated by the attitude towards the new SG-1 characters. Some of the vendors aren't bothering to bring the new stuff. [livejournal.com profile] suzy_queue is a having devil's time finding Vala pictures or even Farscape ones. Fortunately there are others who do have them. That one t-shirt dealer has both a Ben Browder/Cameron Mitchell and a John Sheppard design... *whimpers* I am but a weak willed woman to paraphrase Queen Elizabeth.

Serves her right for getting people into fandoms.. LOL

That's really cool. I was wonderinf if there would be a lot of mine TOS, VS Next Gen type in fighting with the Who fans. Both new and classic. Its good that there doesn't seem to be much. I hope its still popular next year. LOL

LOL Went to Baycon today and didn't buy a thing! First con I've ever been to that I didn't buy anything. I just felt like I didn't belong there. :-( Its mostly sci fi literary genre it seems..and that's not me. They had some media fannidh stuff but it seems like that was all stuck on the 2nd floor meeting rooms hidden away where I couldn't even find it, like it would infect the rest of the con or something. :-(
