Moving downstairs into the main library has been educational. I get first hand evidence that yes, people are actually using and checking out the material I'm cataloguing. Just today someone wrestled with the Lectriever system to remove one of my prized cataloged packets. That's a relief. Some of oddball stuff I've been doing I can't imagine anyone needing again and yet... there's always something.
Maybe it's coming off the Media West trip, but I'm having the wanderlust again, the wishing to catch the plane/train/boat somewhere interesting. The birthday this year is sorta a big one, so I've been looking at Amtrak specials for that weekend. I've been reading the NY Times' Frugal Traveler series and trying to figure out what is bugging me about them. Travel is one of those things that other people get to do. I just read their accounts and stare at their photographs and wonder how I'd do in the same scenario. Given my picky eating habits, not terribly well. I think what bothers me is the attitude, fairly snobby towards la tourista, because if the tourists are there, it can't be fun or enjoyable. Never mind his idea of "cheap" and mine are slightly different... (The comments from the readers are almost as interesting as his final articles, so don't forget to read theose too.)

Date: 2006-06-07 07:04 pm (UTC)A short letter would actually be scarier-- something like "I want to see you and Mrs Scalara in my offices on Wednesday afternoon, bring charts"
and then we could just RP it, and you can tell me what's going thru her mind after if you forget to put it in, and I'll edit a lot--I want to make this easy for you so we can get it done :)
