Sunday with Big Finish

The weather has threatened thunderstorms at any second. Consequently the humidity has shot up, causing the apartment to be very uncomfortable. The forecast for the rest of the week is equally bleak.
I've been flitting about in the Big Finish audios. Following
neadods's mini-arc suggestion, I listened to "Neverland" after "Storm Warning". While I enjoyed the snarking between Romana and the Doctor, the Anti-Time technobabble bored me silly. The CIA references confused me too, because I kept wondering why an Earth based spying group was messing around the time-space continuum. I was creeped out by Rassilon's sudden appearances. He reminded me of Katherine Kurtz's Camber, old and powerful and outwardly benevolent and yet you're left wondering whether you should be awed by him or fear him. From what I've heard, it should be a combination of both. I haven't listened to "Zagreus" yet.
For no real reason, I jumped way ahead to "Something Inside", the most recent release. This was indeed a depressing ending, much along the lines of darker trend in the current series. Despite his best efforts, the Doctor could only save his own companions, but no one else. I felt sorry for the psychics, "volunteered" into a war and then branded as criminals afterwards. The 8/Charley shipper found it amusing that the threat of her death was the weak point the brain thingy needed to escape. Old time fans will giggle when the Doctor explained how he changed things in the brain machine. Some things never change...
