[livejournal.com profile] neadods has been asking about podcasts lately.

I don't listen to that many. The large bulk of mine are old time radio oriented. I had to go digging yesterday to find the superheroes one for my Green Hornet fix.

I've also listened to some of Pendant Audio fan programs, particularly the Champion of Themiscyra one. They're in the middle of their latest crossover bonanza. Some of the voices flat out don't work for me. Some do.

I've listened to a couple of the comics ones, Word Balloon or FanboyRadio, if the author/artist being interviewed interests me.

In my more recent interests, I've listened to Behind the Black Mask's author interviews. They have a second podcast called "Out of the Past" reviewing films, some classic and some modern.

Crimewav: Relatively new podcast of short crime fiction. Two of the authors with stories are Vicki Hendricks and Christa Faust. All we need is Megan Abbott for the trifecta of female noir writers... (Not remotely family friendly readings I might add, if that bothers you.)

Word balloon is especially fun for crime-fiction loving comic geeks -- there must be a list a mile long of "things only John Siuntries and Ed Brubaker have heard of" and they figure out how to hit them all. I particularly liked it when Matt Fraction was on the same episode with Brubaker, and Fraction never actually got to talk about the books he writes. (There's this thing called 'Iron Man' -- you may have heard of it.)

*ahem* I'm sort of a comics-podcast nerd, sorry.

I've heard about the Crimewav one, I'm going to have to check it out once I have a functioning iPod again.

I am open to other comics-podcast suggestions. Most I've stumbled upon by accident or through some link.

I own an MP3 player, but it's not an ipod. Usually I just download the mp3 and play it in Media Player.

At the moment, I'm utterly devoted to iFanboy -- which at the basic level is just three guys getting together every week to talk about the comics they read. But they've also branched out lately into covering a lot more things on their website.

I have lists of other things, but I like to listen while I'm walking or doing housework or exercising, so since I haven't had a portable player, I haven't done as many.

Most of my noncomics podcasts I get from NPR :).
