Okay, the birthday is approaching and I've floated the idea with yon parents about acquiring a new digital camera. My current one is an older model HP Photosmart 215 -- very clunky and bulky. I'd like something fairly slim and portable that doesn't cost a fortune. You've seen examples of what I generally take pictures of -- travel and/or needlework. What do other people use and/or recommend?

I have a digital camera again! When I upgraded to XP, my poor relatively ancient HP Photosmart 215 stopped working. Last time I checked awhile back, I could only get the software updates by requesting a cd from HP. Not so anymore, they've actually put the drivers online. So after working with the wires and files, the one lonely picture from my last Stars on Ice nearly four years ago finally downloaded. Even better I can start taking pictures of other stuff and not have to wait for developing. Now if I can just remember what the different options did...
