They're having a Cirque de Soleil Week which ends on Saturday with the "Varekai" premiere. In the meantime, I can tape off and actually watch the first couple episodes of "Fire Within" and all the Cirque programs I've missed.

The allergist situation ended semi-happily. After several crossed streams, I finally have my Allegra renewed. But I have to go back in for an actual appointment in July. Oh joy. The only annoyance is my lapsed health insurance, caused by my layoff and my parttime job.

In spite of posted announcements and fine weather, they did not do the windows today, unless they only did a select region of the building or something. At least the people with balconies have places to put those large screens.

Well, I've clearly watched LoTR and X-Men too many times. I was watching the other Cirque DVD I had taken out from the library, "The Journey of Man". I was nicely listening to the lovely voice of the narrator, stopped and realized "Sir Ian!" Indeed, when the credits finally rolled around, Ian McKellen was listed as the narrator. Some voices are more recognizable than others, I guess.

From searches online, I determined the source of my frustration with "Journey of Man". The film was originally released as an IMAX movie, not as a filming of the stage production, like the other one I watched. The whole production was very high end, but the scenery and backdrops tended to distract me from the Cirque acts. I loved the acrobats dressed as statues on the swimming pool. They had an amazing amount of strength and leverage and control.

The next two episodes of "Fire Within" reaired on Bravo, showing what happens when the new people arrived at Cirque. Imagine being poor Gareth and Ashley trying to learn an ancient form of acrobatics in a couple of months and then seeing the people you're supposed to share the stage with doing full twisting whatevers all over the place. Oleg and Tatiana reminded me oddly of a pairs routine with their lifts and twists.

I received my signed copy of the lease, so I'm officially set for an apartment for another year. Still only leads with the job situation and no actual assignment. I'm starting to get worried about making Media West, even if I did get one of the May jobs. I may wind up coming in Thursday night, so I would only have to take off Friday.

Through the Bravo channel, I have acquired a new fascination: Cirque de Soleil. They're running a fascinating reality show called "The Fire Within" which shows the behind the scenes preparation work for the show. Being a former gymnast, I was fascinated watching the former gymnasts readjusting to new apparatus, like the triple trapeze or the straps. I loved the straps, something about the free swinging style that captivates me. The twins are easily my favorite characters. I found several Cirque programs at the library, so I'm catching up on the show. The single trapeze scared that daylights out of me in "Nouvelle Experience". Just a little too close to the edge of danger for my tastes.
