When the alert went to Code Orange, security started checking ids and badges outside. I don't actually have an official id, just show my picture id to the interior security. So the outside security has to radio in my name inside all the time to verify I'm on the list. Occasionally I'll get someone who knows me, but very rarely. This process is mostly an added nuisance and a necessary evil. I'm used to cringing when people mess up my last name. But I'm not used to being called by my *middle* name. That's right. Apparently when looking at a standard state id, they call me by my middle and last name. Even when I say my full name, they mess it up.
Washington Post ran a startling article today saying we haven't had a clear sunny day the whole month since April 28th. Ick. The rain has had the added misery of the higher humidity which my apartment *loves*. Can we say fill up the dehumidifier to the top? Yes we can! *sigh*
Techie note to self: Fascinating article in 5/30 issue of Chronicle of Higher Education called "Haute Cyber" on a collaborative fashion show/ storyline between Fashion Institute of Technology and Simon Fraser. Check library for copy?
