Serenity: the graphic novel

Um, if the cover is any indication, I'll be quite happy with the "Serenity" graphic novel. Of course, comics are notorious for using one cover artist and a different interior one. According to Newsarama here, Dark Horse is publishing a three issue prequel, with the first issue out in July.

Dark Horse in particular almost always does. Which makes a certain amount of sense -- unless you're, say, Marvel or DC using Alex Ross for a special or miniseries, the fully-painted photoreal thing throughout is just too time-consuming to be cost-effective.

That said, most of DH's stable are very good, or were the last time I looked. They've done a pretty consistently bang-up job on Buffy.

It took me a while when I was getting into comics to realize that they present the different cover artist as "it's not a bug, it's a feature!" Personally, I like truth in advertising better. :p

But I overheard something about the Firefly comic today at Wondercon, so that explains what I heard. *G* It didn't make sense at the time.
