Season 4 of "Project Runway" started off with a bang on Wednesday night. Alas we appear to have lost Tim Gunn's famous podcasts this year in favor of Nina's blog. Ugh. Sorry I don't tune in to hear her pithy comments on fashion designs. Tim always had the most patient or exasperated explanations for the episodes.

A couple of links:
[livejournal.com profile] meiran has started recaps/critiques of the runway designs with opening episode. She's done them for previous seasons. I blame them squarely for getting me curious in the show at all.

Katherine Gerdes, a former contestant, has a blog with recaps and commentary. She's also done some nifty "how to" posts on fashion design itself: How to draw croquis figures and further on drawing clothes. For someone who can't draw worth anything, I found them quite informative.

I'm sure there's beaucoup de PR blogs and recaps out there.

Noooooooo! I assumed when I hit refresh on my podcast feeds after the show, I just assumed there was a delay in putting it out. Where is the sense in that? Is it because she's got a book to promote? *sniffle*

I assume it's more because he has his own show to promote. Of course I could be wrong and they'll unfurl the podcasts later, but there isn't even a Tim's Take section for this season, so to quote Tim himself, "I'm concerned".

It's amazing how much watching just one ep of Tim's show completely spoiled him for me. I thought he was a great guy, instead, he's just another shallow, fatphobic, anti-comfy-clothing fashion-TV personality. Sad. :(

None of these people stick out to me yet, but that's pretty much always the case with the first couple eps of any reality show. The show doesn't really gel until the off a few contestants because there's just too damned MANY of them.

BTW, if you're still up for tomorrow... how does a 6:30 metro pickup sound? (I've been playing this by ear because I'm so. goddamned. sore. Part of me wants to postpone, but... I've stayed in due to illness on my birthday for the last two or three years now. Enough, already.)

I've been fortunate not to see Tim's show. We don't need one more makeover show. I'd love to see how maintainable or practical some of those styles really are. Because most are great for special events, but aside from that, I don't have the time or energy to do that much makeup.

6:30 should be fine. It'll give me a few hours to work on writing beforehand. The cell's on if something changes. The monitor is still a little wonky, so internet access is spotty.
