Shoe Star

Remember how I thought "Project Shoe Designer" would be a cool style contest? You, too, could be the next Manolo Blahnik or Stuart Weitzman. Nine West is actually doing just that with Shoe Star where seven designers vie for a feature in Footwear News (FN) and join the Nine West design team. Never mind I couldn't wear any of the shoes I designed for them. The first two challenges are online already.

I miss the beautiful black suede boots I had when I was... um, eight. :Þ No high heels, no laces/zippers/etc.--they were cut low and fairly loose around the ankles, so they just slipped on, and they were perfectly comfortable. They were so very simple, but I've looked around for years and never found anything remotely similar. (In fact, I never see anything these days that doesn't have a four-inch chopstick for a heel... *sigh*)

I still mourn the loss of my Santana black boots. They remind me of figure skates with the hooks and laces. They were one of the rare short boots that ran narrow enough for me. The company is back, but they're not selling narrows anymore. *sighs*
