Digital cameras?

hildy89Okay, the birthday is approaching and I've floated the idea with yon parents about acquiring a new digital camera. My current one is an older model HP Photosmart 215 -- very clunky and bulky. I'd like something fairly slim and portable that doesn't cost a fortune. You've seen examples of what I generally take pictures of -- travel and/or needlework. What do other people use and/or recommend?

Takes GREAT video... which I haven't uploaded anywhere yet, but the photos on my LJ under the RCPM tag were taken with it -except for the one of Boots in nothing but an apron :)-
So... that's my take :)
