Big Finish's Dark Shadows Reborn site has a trailer up in Windows Media Player format for their upcoming audio drama with a cast/who's who list. Looks like four cds initially.

May I?

So I spent a leisurely weekend organizing & cataloguing some of the needlework charts and getting more stitching done on "Garden Verses". The browns and golds are getting a bit wearying, so I'll probably move back to the purples and red at some point. The one bright side of big projects -- you can do a rotation within a rotation. Unfortunately you don't always feel like you're getting anywhere.

I'm planning to hit the LNS this weekend, since it's conveniently down the street from the comic book store. Yes, it's Free Comic Book Day again on May 6th, including a Justice League Unlimited issue. I still haven't sat down with my chosen projects for the Blue & Gold Along to figure out what I need. That needs to happen before this weekend obviously.

Big Finish, the people doing the Doctor Who audio dramas, now have the license to do Dark Shadows programs as well. They're apparently trying to get some original cast members to reprise roles. The official website is Dark Shadows Reborn. I've heard decent things about the Big Finish Who programs, but I haven't really explored them at all.

Otherwise it's Monday and ack, only a few more weeks before con!

Alec Newman has been cast as the new Barnabas Collins for the WB's remake of "Dark Shadows". He has recently appeared in an episode of "Angel", but most notably as Paul Mau'dib in Sci Fi's Dune series. The rest of the cast look extremely young aside from Blair Brown. They still haven't announced a casting for my namesake Julia, though.

Life beyond Google: Commentary by a Northwestern assistant professor on whether Google is really all its cracked up to be. Also the new GMail is getting scrutinized by European privacy groups because emails stay on their server long after someone has deleted them.

According to darkshadows.co.uk and [livejournal.com profile] jordannamorgan:

Sci-Fi Channel USA will not continue broadcasting "Dark Shadows" in 2004. Dan Curtis Productions comments: "Sci-Fi is pursuing different and newer programming opportunities and will not be reconsidering its decision... Sci-Fi no longer schedules older shows."

At least there's a glimmer of hope: Discussions are underway to hopefully find a new TV home for "Dark Shadows" reruns. Speaking to this site in August, Dan Curtis Productions representative Jim Pierson cited cable channel Soapnet as a possible alternative broadcaster for the show.

I have to wince reading this, especially the part about not scheduling older shows anymore. I hate their current lineup. They used to show all the obscure old shows that had brief runs. Now they're turning into the AMC of the sf set. But certainly if Soap Net can air "Ryan's Hope" and "Another World" reruns, they can include the crowd from Collinswood.
